Save the Date: National Night Out

You are invited to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Our annual National Night Out celebration brings together area residents, business, community partners, our local law enforcement and first responders. This annual family-friendly event is designed to enhance relationships among neighbors and law enforcement as we work together to build a safer community. The event is free and will be held downtown on the City square. For any questions about the event contact 979-773-2221 and speak with any of our National Night Out Planning Team staff members.
Sidewalk Construction Downtown

The anticipated downtown sidewalk improvements are set to start in the next couple of weeks and are estimated to be complete in November 2023, weather permitting.
Community Town Hall

In December 2022, a Call for Projects was issued to communities throughout Texas for the TxDot 2023 Transportation Alternatives Grant. The City of Lexington submitted an application for the preliminary round and we have been selected to progress to the next and final round of this process. The City of Lexington will host a Community Forum on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. in the Woodson Community Center. This Community Town Hall will be open to the public to share the plans the City submitted to TxDot on behalf of the Community to provide sidewalks for safer transportation alternatives.
Scheduled Road Closures

Heads up for drivers in Lexington. The City of Lexington will have sections of City streets closed for paving this week. Larry Young Paving, Inc. will be in town today and tomorrow, March 27 and 28, 2023. Today’s closures include portions of Burns Street between 3rd and 5th Streets and portions of 5th Street between Rockdale and Main Street. Closures tomorrow include Cherry Street from HWY 77 to Rockdale Street (Loop 123). Citizens of Lexington may also experience delays over the next few days on Caldwell Road between HWY 77 and Loop 123 for Utility upgrades. Public Notice to Boil Water

Due to (1), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system (2) to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boiled and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system official will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

Tree Limb & Brush Debris Disposal

The Public Works Department is continuing to work to clear downed tree limbs throughout the City. We would like to remind Citizens they are welcome to bring any tree limbs & brush debris to the City’s designated burn site located at 7979 FM 1624. The drop off site is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. If you have any questions, please contact Public Works at (979) 540-9026 or City Hall at (979) 773-2221. We will post additional information on the City’s website and social media channels as it becomes available.

Reminder: Lee County Tire Collection and Pct. 3 Clean-Up Day

Lee County will host a Tire Collection Event this Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 9 am until noon with two locations to choose from, Precinct #2 located at 1530 South Hwy 77 in Giddings and at 7979 FM 1624 in Lexington. Clean-up Day is also this Saturday from 9 am until noon at the recycling center in Lexington for Precinct 3 Residents.
