Building Inspections:

The City of Lexington Building Inspection and Permits Division is responsible for reviewing project plans, issuing building permits, inspecting all types of construction and remodeling projects as well as issuing certificates of completion or certificates of occupancy when all requirements are met. Permits enable the City to enforce the life-safety provisions of the building codes in Texas. These codes are a minimum standard, protecting life, health, property and public welfare by insuring public and private buildings meet a quality standard set for all buildings in the State of Texas.

Electrical Contractors

  • State of Texas Master License
  • Certificate of Insurance

Plumbing Contractors

  • State of Texas Master License and Contractor License
  • Certificate of Insurance

Mechanical Contractors

  • State of Texas Master License and Contractor License
  • Certificate of Insurance

Irrigation Contractors 

  • State of Texas Master License and Contractor License
  • Certificate of Insurance

 

Permits:

Permits are required so that the City Staff can monitor growth and construction. Permiting allows the City to insure that commercial and residential projects present a proper appearance and meet minimum standards to upgrade the appeal of the City of Lexington. This will allow for growth that does not infringe on existing residents and helps real estate values to continue to grow.

Permit Approval Time:

After submitting your application, the review time for new construction is five bussiness days for Residential Properties. The review time on re-submittals is approximately two weeks.

After submitting your application, the review time for new construction is ten bussiness days for Commercial Buildings. The review time on re-submittals is approximately two weeks.

How do I get a building permit?

A Building Application can be obtained at City Hall located at 604 Wheatley Street Lexington, Texas, Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30.
