Public Input Request

10/11/2024

Lee County and the Cities of Giddings and Lexington seek feedback as they review and update the Hazard Mitigation Plan. Your involvement is crucial and will assist the local planning teams in recognizing and mitigating impacts across the County.
An online survey can be accessed by the public at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8BBQD73.

A Community Open House will be held in Lexington on: Wednesday, October 16, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the LISD Multi Event Center (MEC). The Lee County Office of Emergency Management is leading the county-wide Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update process. Under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires communities to develop a mitigation plan to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards. Communities with a FEMA-approved plan are eligible for specific grant funding under the Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Program and your feedback will help ensure that a plan is developed that will best prepare the area and its residents for future hazards. A second Open House will be held in Giddings on Wednesday, October 23, from 6 pm - 8 pm at the GISD High School library.
